Some of The Top Cities for Vinyl Siding may surprise you.

We ran the numbers, and plotted a map to show the cities with the highest number of vinyl siding estimate requests.  Of course ALL areas across the USA have requests for vinyl siding but if we plotted all of them on a map… you’d just have one big solid red map.  So to illustrate the most popular areas we applied a quantity & time frame threshold prior to plotting the map.

Two things stand out when looking at this list of States:

• Where’s New Jersey?
  • In the past New Jersey has been a front runner for siding and it didn’t even make the Top 10 for August 2011.  That’s pretty shocking.
• WOW… Florida made the Top 10?
  • Florida has consistently been a pretty sparse state for siding for several years now.  HOWEVER Hurricane Irene and the previous storms have changed all that… for the time being anyhow.

Typically the Contractors With Integrity Network (Cwin for short)  approves around 11% of the contractors who submit a join request to the program.  This is significantly less than the industry norm and leaves 89% of the contractors out in the cold.

Well over the past 6 months, Cwin reports that it only approved 9.4% of their contractor join requests.  That’s almost a 15% decrease in Cwin’s approval rate.

“… we haven’t changed the way we approve contractors in any way.  We still have the same high standards as before.  These fluctuations aren’t unheard of, however 9.4% is definitely the lowest I’ve ever seen it and absolutely the lowest I’ve heard of within the industry.  A low contractor approval rate is, however, a good thing for homeowners if high standards are the reason for the low approval percentage.  Cwin strives to only allow contractor membership by the contractors who actually demonstrate the highest levels of integrity available.” said, Roger T. – Cwin representative.

In many markets a 15% downturn would be disaster for some businesses but in this case it might actually be a good thing, as far as homeowners are concerned.  We’ll continue to keep you posted if anything changes…

NewJerseyVinylSiding.com For Sale for $50k

On GoDaddy’s popular Auctions webpage it was discovered on February 1st 2011 that an undisclosed 3rd party had listed NewJerseyVinylSiding.com and New-Jersey-Vinyl-Siding.com for $50,000 each without ownership of the domains or consent from any registered owners.  When GoDaddy was contacted they seemed very shocked that someone was able to list a domain for sale that they did not own AND that they were listed for $50,000 and not further scrutinized.  GoDaddy reported that they had banned the offending user and removed all of their GoDaddy Auctions listings.  We felt it was note worthy to report this to the siding professionals out there due to this person targeting “New Jersey vinyl siding”.

The Siding Web™ has been monitoring siding and window estimate request data for many years now and has just reported that the winter slump appears to be on it’s way out.  “Usually November and December are typically slow with recovery initiating around the 2nd week in January.  However we are just now seeing estimate requests beginning to rise, several weeks later than expected.  This could indicate an excessively larger ‘slow season’ or possibly due to the overall economic downturn… you know the one they keep saying we are pulling out of.  We will keep our eyes on it and report any breaking news.  Conversely, even if 2011 shapes up to be a ‘slower than normal’ year, we expect it will only be a slight drop however it could all change and be another banner year. ” ~ SidingWeb Spokesperson.
