Hello,

My contractor is suggesting Variform siding (0.046″ thinkness) or Crane siding. He prefers Variform over Crane.

Any help in explaining the facts on these two brands is appreciated.

Anyone care to tackle this one?

I can say 0.046″ thickness is typically a very nice thickness for residential siding. It's thick enough to cover many wall imperfections. 0.044″ thickness also works well. 0.042″ is a typically a budget panel.

As to the difference between Variform and Crane … ??? Maybe someone else can address this, we don't really have an opinion either way.
