Picking a siding contractor can be a daunting task but if you follow some basic guidelines you dramatically increase your odds of picking the right one – the first time.

1. Are they legal to do work on your home?
2. Get references and CHECK THEM.
3. Get at least 3 to 4 WRITTEN estimates.
4. Compare estimates and consider compare apples to apples.

YES, believe it or not… vinyl siding does need to be cleaned periodically!

Typically vinyl siding needs to be cleaned once per year to keep your siding looking great.
The video below shows you some basics on cleaning your vinyl siding with a pressure washer AND gives some great tips.

DIY Video on How To Replace Vinyl Siding after it has been melted by a Barbecue.

If you have melted your vinyl siding by placing a barbeque too close to your house don’t feel bad… it’s pretty common. Most reputable siding contractors should give you the BBQ and weed eater talk.

The video below actually has a lot of really good information and “visually” shows you the process of replacing damaged vinyl siding.  We’d like to add that most vinyl siding expands and contracts 1/4 inch per 12 feet and that is the “typical” minimum amount of movement the vinyl siding panel is required to have.

So you’ve got vinyl siding and you’d like to attach something to it without causing some potentially big issues.

…well here’s what the experts do…

Rule #1) Allow For Movement!

I can’t stress this enough, you must allow vinyl siding to move BECAUSE it typically expands and contracts 1/4″ (one quarter inch) per 12′ (twelve feet).  If you don’t allow vinyl siding to move it will most likely buckle and warp under the pressure.
So MAKE SURE the vinyl siding can slide back and forth at least 1/4″ in all areas. (continue reading…)
